Startup Selling Shirts, Spurring Ocala Pride
OcalaTix, an online event ticketing startup founded by local entrepreneur Richard Simon, has launched a new line of t-shirts aimed at instilling pride in the Ocala community. This endeavor into hometown-branded apparel represents the latest of five companies Simon has started, and is based on the success of a similar product in Bermuda.
“I moved here from Bermuda a few years ago. My business ventures have spanned comedy festivals, international shipping / importation, customer relationship management (CRM) software for non-profits, localized online ticketing, and more. I am proud to be a part of this community. This t-shirt allows me to wear that pride on my chest. My hope is that others here will want the same fashion statement.”
“Richard’s shirts are a great example of grassroots community branding,” said Ryan Lilly, Director of Business Creation at the Power Plant Business Incubator where Simon is among the residents. “In addition to promoting Ocala and the area’s equine industry, Richard is simultaneously showing we are an entrepreneurial community as well. And that’s an important aspect of any community’s brand to build-upon.”
Ladies and unisex t-shirts will sell for an introductory price of $10 each for the first batch. The regular price will be $15 each. Various size and color combinations are available. Those interested may reserve their shirts online at http://www.ocalatix.com/ and choose to have them shipped or collect shirts in-person from Simon (by appointment only) in room 115 at the Power Plant Business Incubator, located 405 SE Osceola Ave. in Ocala.
