SCORE Chapters Merge to Better Serve the Mid-Florida Community

The Villages, FL — SCORE, the nation's largest network of small business mentors, has merged the Lake-Sumter and The Villages & Ocala chapters to become the Mid-Florida SCORE chapter. SCORE of Mid Florida provides confidential and FREE mentoring to small businesses and entrepreneurs in Marion, Sumter and Lake Counties.

Joe Elias, Chapter Chair, says this puts our tremendous pool of experienced and talented members to serve our expanded small business communities in the tri-County area. Small businesses are encouraged to take advantage of this free and confidential counselling service. We also offer Training and Workshops in all segments of a business, such as Marketing, Advertising, Financials, Sales, Human Resources, Operations and Technology.

The merging of the two SCORE chapters to become Mid-Florida was recently approved as a Chapter by the SCORE Association.  SCORE, a volunteer operated small business assistance program, is a resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration and the local Small Business Resource Center.

SCORE is continually seeking volunteers as qualified mentors. Volunteering at SCORE is a way to give back to the community, connect with fellow business owners, and pass on business knowledge and expertise to the next generation of entrepreneurs in the community.  SCORE also partners with local businesses and organizations to increase community presence and resources.

In 2014, SCORE’s 11,000 volunteer business mentors helped clients start 56,079 new businesses and created 47,187 new jobs nationwide.
