SECO ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR 2014

Sumterville, FL – The SECO Board of Trustees has voted to continue SECO’s scholarship program for 2014.  Up to twelve deserving high school seniors from the cooperative’s service territory will each receive a $3,000 scholarship to assist them in going on to a college or technical school following their graduation.

Helping Hands "Auction & Dinner" and Golf Invitational

Helping Hands held their annual charity "Auction & Dinner" at the Hilton on November 23rd. Proceeds totaled $75,000 from the "Auction & Dinner" and the "Golf Tournament", held on November 22nd at Golden Ocala. Special guests included Al Dunlap, Dory Funk, Jr., "Big Daddy" Don Garlits, Troy Glaus, Don Nottingham, Tori Petry, Roger Rowland, Ray Snead, Walter Ray Williams, Ron Zook, U.S. Congressman Ted Yoho and State Representative Dennis Baxley. The funds raised will be used to assist men, women, and children in critical need ... with housing, food, clothes, medical, dental, jobs, transportation, education, and counseling. The KTK morning team is doing great things for the needy in our community this holiday season!

Fishermen on a Gulfstar Fishing boat hauled in two massive Warsaw grouper late last week and decided, along with partner Northwest Seafood, to give the meat to people in need. After running a contest for patrons to guess the weight of the fish — the grouper on display at Northwest's Millhopper location weighed 271 pounds, and the one at the store's Tioga location was 273 pounds — the two "supergroupers" were cut up and vacuum sealed Thursday.The meat will be distributed to food banks in Alachua and Marion counties.
