Power Plant Incubator Launches App

Posted on: June 18, 2014

The Power Plant Business Incubator (PPBI), a division of the Ocala/Marion County Chamber & Economic Partnership (CEP), has launched a new mobile app to serve incubator residents, welcome visitors, and inform the community as to the entrepreneurial activity occurring there.

The app is fully powered by VidPlat, a mobile app development platform, which allows companies, organizations, etc. the ability to develop their own apps in weeks for a monthly fee. VidPlat is the brainchild of Shane Wooten, Co-Founder and CEO of the Ocala based company that developed the media-rich mobile platform to seamlessly stream content from sources like YouTube, Vimeo and their own cloud services. Wooten is also a former resident of the incubator program himself.

“The Power Plant Business Incubator wanted to really showcase their residents and provide everyone who came into the building with an immersive and engaging mobile experience,” said Wooten. “We are pleased VidPlat was able to step-in and provide that perfect solution. VidPlat is a platform any organization can leverage to easily bring their existing online content into a mobile environment.”
The app, currently only available for iOS devices (iPhone and iPad), is now available for free in the Apple App Store. Included on the platform is a news section, a video library, recorded podcast interviews with area entrepreneurs (updated weekly), and interactive content from current residents and past graduates.

Kevin T. Sheilley, President and CEO of the CEP commented, “We are incredibly pleased with the superior product and outstanding service we received from VidPlat. As more incubators, Chambers, and economic development entities are creating a mobile presence, we are excited to be on that leading-edge.”
