Mestizo Foods Selects Ocala

The Ocala/ Marion County Chamber and Economic Partnership is pleased to announce Mestizo Foods, LLC is locating its headquarters and primary manufacturing in Ocala. The company expects to make a $20 million capital investment in the area, creating approximately 200 new, full time jobs.

“We are excited that Mestizo Foods chose to locate its headquarters in Marion County,” said Carl Zalak, Chair of the Marion County Board of County Commissioners. “Our economic momentum continues driving ahead as we see more opportunities for residents to work, succeed and thrive in our community.”

“It took a collaborative effort with the City of Ocala, Marion County, and the CEP to make things happen,” said Brent Malever, Ocala City Council President. “We want to welcome and continue to be an attractive city for new businesses.

“Mestizo Foods decision to locate its headquarters in Marion County is a direct reflection of the strength of Ocala’s pro-business community,” said Ken Ausley, Chairman of the CEP Board of Trustees. This sends a strong message to new companies about Ocala’s assets, opportunities, and how a partnership with the CEP is key.”  

The company is a private label and third party snack food manufacturer that offers a variety of cooked corn and masa flour chips. It has purchased former Golden Flake factory located on Silver Springs Boulevard.
