Marion County Career Exploration Day on May 11th

Posted on: April 27, 2016

The event takes place at the College of Central Florida’s Klein Conference Center, 3001 SW College Road, in Ocala. Ninth and 10th graders are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. while middle school students, interested parents, teachers, guidance counselors and older high schoolers are set for 6-8 p.m.
Career Exploration Day targets in-demand industries of Information Technology, Healthcare, Manufacturing, and Transportation/Logistics. There is no charge to participate.
“For students, parents and school staff, this is an excellent way to learn first-hand about exciting, local career opportunities and the potential for advancement in today’s leading industries,” said Brenda Chrisman, CareerSource CLM’s business services officer. “It will also offer insight into the postsecondary education or training needed to succeed in tomorrow’s workforce.”

Chrisman noted that the program provides employers a chance to help close skills gaps in their industries and begin building the talent pipeline needed to meet future demand.
The event is sponsored by CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion, Marion County Public Schools, the Public Education Foundation of Marion County, Mid-Florida Regional Manufacturers Association and the Ocala/Marion Chamber and Economic Partnership.
