Construction is Underway for the City's Osceola Trak Project
Construction has begun on the City of Ocala’s Osceola Trak project. Monday, Oct. 2, Ocala Electric Utility, along with contractor Mid-State Electric, began underground electrical conduit installation for construction of the Osceola Trak, which will occur along a portion of Osceola Avenue between State Road 40 and NE Fifth Street. The Osceola Trak project is expected to be completed by December 2018.
The Osceola Trak is an 11-foot wide multi-modal concrete trail along the west side of Osceola Avenue, which will ultimately connect the Ocala Downtown Market, located at the corner of SE Third Street and SE Third Avenue, and Citizens’ Circle, 151 SE Osceola Ave., to the Tuscawilla Art Park, 223 NE Fifth Street. The Osceola Trak will also include improvements such as decorative lighting, a signalized pedestrian crossing on State Road 40, new asphalt and brick pattern crosswalks.
Temporary, intermittent lane and road closures are expected to be in place throughout construction. All necessary devices will be in place to re-direct traffic during these closures. Media and the public will be notified of these lane and road closures in advance.
Construction for this project will not take place on any City-recognized holidays and will be limited to weekdays only. During construction, travelers and visitors in downtown Ocala may experience noise, dust and heavy equipment within the project area.
