CEP’s Schwartz earns Main Street America Institute Revitalization Professional certification
Main Street America announced this week that Diana Schwartz, Director of Ocala Main Street and Director of Business Retention for Small & Medium Businesses for the Ocala/Marion County Chamber & Economic Partnership (CEP), has achieved certification as a Main Street America Revitalization Professional (MSARP).
The National Main Street Center offers the Main Street America Institute (MSAI), a targeted professional development training program aimed to equip downtown and commercial district leaders with the tools they need to lead results-oriented and preservation-based community revitalization organizations. The Institute offers a comprehensive, intensive, and convenient curriculum structure that supports professional career development and growth through lifelong learning opportunities.
“We view the Main Street program as an integral part of the CEP’s mission to create and retain jobs and be the one-stop shop for the business community. Diana’s designation and the program’s accreditation is proof of our commitment to delivering on this mission with the best in class people and programs. We are even more proud to say we have one of the very first MSARP-credentialed executives in the country!” said Kevin Sheilley, president & CEO of the CEP.
Main Street professionals must be subject matter experts, with skills and knowledge directly relevant to the multitude of challenges confronting 21st century downtowns and neighborhood commercial districts. In recognition of this reality, MSAI is comprised of two distinct certificate programs – the Leadership Development Certificate program and the Community Transformation Certificate program.
The Leadership Development Certificate program provides participants with the tools to have an advanced understanding of how to be an effective leader within both a commercial revitalization entity and the extended community. The Community Transformation Certificate program offers coursework covering a variety of preservation-based community development techniques through the lens of the refreshed Main Street Four Point framework, which focuses on building a sustainable organization, implementing effective promotions, and actions to support economic vitality and quality design.
Participants who complete both certificate program requirements are eligible to apply to become a Main Street America Revitalization Professional (MSARP), the highest credential achievable through MSAI.
The Ocala/Marion County Chamber and Economic Partnership was created to be a one-stop hub for the community’s business attraction, creation and retention efforts. The CEP’s mission is to be THE catalyst for a prosperous community. The Moving Forward plan seeks to impact the creation of 3500 new jobs with wages 15% above the county average and resulting in a capital investment of $225 million by 2018.
