CEP's Ryan Lilly to take part in summit hosted by the Kauffman Foundation
Ryan Lilly, the CEP’s Vice President of Business Creation, has been invited to take part in a special summit hosted by the Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City, Missouri this coming June.
The Kauffman Foundation was established in the 1960s by the late Ewing Marion Kauffman to advance both entrepreneurship and education -- which Kauffman saw as two ends of the same continuum. Today, it is one of the largest private foundations in the United States with an asset base of approximately $2 billion.
The event Lilly is taking part in is Kauffman’s inaugural “E-SHIP Summit” – meant to convene those who “aspire to build a new model of economic development where are entrepreneurs are celebrated and accelerated...” and to pioneer “the principles, culture, tools, and metrics of successful entrepreneurial communities.”
According to the Summit’s website, “Participants will work together – hands-on, creatively and boldly – to design their [entrepreneurial] ecosystems using new approaches and best practices.”
Lilly was nominated to take part in the E-SHIP Summit by the International Business Innovation Association (iNBIA), of which he has been an active member for the last six years.
“Having the opportunity to attend a summit like this one is a huge honor,” said Lilly. “I have admired the work of the Kauffman Foundation since I first began my career in economic development and business incubation. Getting to visit the Foundation in-person and take part in this important dialogue is very exciting. I hope to both contribute my own ideas on how communities can better serve entrepreneurs, as well as bring-back new tools and strategies to help startups here in Ocala/Marion County.”
