CEP Announces Leadership Ocala Marion Class XXVII

Posted on: August 21, 2013

The CEP is proud to announce Leadership Ocala Marion (LOM) Class XXVII. Since 1986, Leadership Ocala Marion County (LOM) has immersed its class members in key civic areas including: economic development, public safety, education, culture, health, the environment and social services. Through tours, education sessions, hands-on learning and personal interaction with our community’s leaders, class participants gain a unique behind-the-scenes look at the pulse of our community. The LOM experience heightens participants’ awareness of Ocala/Marion County’s issues, challenges and opportunities, sharpens their leadership skills and increases their involvement in civic life.

Concerned about developing the next generation of community leaders, Chamber President Frank Stafford founded the program twenty seven years ago. This leadership initiative has allowed nearly 1,000 area business professionals to increase their awareness and advocacy for major facets of our community fulfilling the founder’s goal. Stafford was also instrumental in forming Leadership Ocala/Marion Youth (LOMY) now in its 25 year.

Class XXVII, at 35 members, is one of the largest in LOM’s history begins their Leadership experience in September with an intensive three day “Leadership Week”. The agenda includes a full day orientation; SIMSOC, a simulated society exercise and concludes with a ROPES course adventure. The class will then meet once a month, for a full day, through May 2014.  Each session, designed by the LOM Board of Regents, brings together our top business, civic and government leaders to discuss the current state of affairs in their area of expertise.

Applications for LOM are accepted starting in February of each year with the nine month program starting in September.
